When you're in Pain, I'm Here to Help.
Florida Massage License # MA46992
My name is Michael Ames and I am a Licensed Massage Therapist. I have been Practicing my unique brand of massage therapy since 2003, when I graduated from the Muscular Therapy Institute in Watertown, MA.
I have a wonderful wife and 2 daughters who make everything seem brighter. I am truly thankful that I get to do what I love and have the opportunity to interact with so many amazing people.
I have over a decade of experience focused on working with injuries and athletes. From everyday aches and pains to sport specific injuries; I've done it all!
My goal is to provide high quality and extremely effective massage sessions. I specialize in deep tissue, sports & injury rehabilitation massage techniques. My goal is to take care of the problem and reduce your pain and discomfort.
A question I get asked a lot is: "What got you into massage?"
The answer is: I am constantly amazed by the human body. It fascinates me how through focused effort, we can change our physical form drastically and make ourselves perform physical feats that seem impossible.
That is the reason I've been drawn towards sports massage and working with athletes specifically. The athlete mentality is one of willingness.
- Willingness to change something
- Willingness to do something
- Willingness to take the extra step that the average person won't.
An athlete pushes through and accomplishes the impossible. I love being a part of their journey, a part of their team that helps them achieve what others won't.
No client too Big or too Small! In the above picture I'm working on my, at the time, 2 year old daughter who complained, "My butt hurts :(" I used techniques on her that I have used on the biggest, toughest football players.
The only difference is pressure and specificity.
While I am able to provide a lot of pressure for the clients that can't seem to get someone else to go deep enough; that does not mean I only do extreme, deep pressure.
My goal is to effect change. I want to balance the body, break up adhesions and get rid of the pain. I do this by working within your limits. If you want more pressure, I can do that. If you want less pressure, I can do that too. The important thing to remember about the massage is it's "Your Massage." I encourage you to provide feedback throughout the massage and ask for different pressure as needed. You're in Charge!
Interesting Thoughts On Pressure
I have worked with 300 pound Professional Football Players who cannot take as much pressure as a 12 year old Elite Gymnast.
Pressure is relative to:
- Individual tolerance
- Recent workouts
- Recent Injuries
- Poor nights sleep
- Getting sick
- Stressful situations
- Etc.
